My JIU experience:
My professors in all my JIU classes were so professional, helpful and fair. The classes challenged me and required a lot of work on my behalf but I saw the direct effect of what I learned as I applied it to my teaching position at the time. Message to the class:
Thank you to the wonderful folks in all my classes, for good feedback and discussions.
May you have all the success and recognition you desire in your chosen vocation -
Safe Journeys!
My JIU experience:
The lifestyle I lead does not lend itself to traditional schooling, and I am so glad I discovered JIU. Being able to go online when I got home from work or gigs late at night, or whenever I had time, was a huge factor in getting through the program. Being able to get up and wander periodically while thinking about what to write is crucial for my creative processes, and being at home in my own workspace allowed that. The project-based learning was also necessary to my success - I was able to use my classroom as a living lab, and directly apply everything I was learning!
I have recommended JIU to several friends and acquaintances, and will continue to do so.
My gratitudes:
Thank you to all my friends and family who put up with me disappearing on them, forgetting to call people back, and otherwise being unavailable for the last two years. Thanks to my band members who didn't give me too much grief about doing homework at gigs between sets.
Especially, thanks to Cliff, who was more than tolerant of barely having me present, though we live in the same house!

Message to the class:
Congrats to all my fellow cohort members who began this journey back in 2007.
My JIU experience:
I truly enjoyed the online experience with JIU. Being a married mother of two and a school teacher, JIU really fit well into my busy schedule. I remember many days of working on assignments hours after my two little girls had gone to sleep. Nonetheless, the support I received from Dr. Dorothy Craig (mentor) along the way was the greatest part of JIU for me hands down!!!
My gratitudes:
My husband, parents and close collegaues were very supportive and was always there to help me in any way. Any time I needed a peaceful environment, my parents were right there to lend a helping hand. My husband continued to motivate me each time I thought about delaying my dream of obtaining a Doctorate degree.

Message to the class:
First and foremost I would like to thank all JIU administrators, the nice folks in financial aid as well as the student support counselors I've had over the last two years.
To my fellow Master of Arts (Leadership & Conflict Resolution)I just want to say thank you for allowing me to share with all of you my life experiences as well as what you've shared with me. Together we forged ahead even when the light at the end of the tunnel was barely visible. Today I am proud to have studied with you.
My JIU experience:
My learning experience here at JIU has changed my life forever. As a young man getting ready to graduate high school in 1974 and enroll in college never materialized nor did it last long. Subsequent years were spent in the US Air Force and US Navy. I wouldn't return to the classroom until 20 years after my high school graduation, finally finding my seat as a freshman in 1994 as a 38 year old (and single father of 4 kids).
Since October 2009 up to my completion of my Master degree in December 2011, my experiences here at JIU have been nothing short of a blessing and a miracle. Graduating with a 3.92 GPA is also equally as special to me.
My gratitudes:
Well, with all due respect to my immediate family, the only people that really had any interests in my school progress were 3 of my 4 kids. However, I've been an "empty nester" since 2008 and there hasn't been anyone really who has been in my corner.
I will say that I owe (in part) my dedication and devotion to my schooling to my late wife, Donna Lee Cicchino who was taken from us back in 1992 after being a passenger in a plane crash. I knew on that day as a single widower with 4 very young children I needed to do something to make myself more employable. More importantly, I need to do something to inspire my kids from the depths of despair that we all suffered through. Returning to college served two purposes for me. It increased my knowledge base and put me in a very select group of sage people. It also instilled valuable lesson to my kids, which they carry with them to this day.
So I dedicate my graduation to my beautiful late wife Donna Lee who's life was cut short at age 29 back on September 13, 1992. I did it Donna, when everyone said I could never get through my undergraduate level. I not only did that, I earned my advanced degree. I will never forget you nor will I ever stop loving you. You were my inspiration during the last 20 years. Today, I'm an old man at age 55 with no real hopes of employment even with this great accomplishment. But if I had a choice to do it all over again or not, I wouldn't change anything.....except preventing you from going on that ill-fated flight. To my kids, I did it. Let my graduation with my Master degree and Highest Honors show you that with dedication, devotion, and discipline anything can be accomplished. Never let anyone tell you that you "can't " do something.
“Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment.” - Thomas Carlyle

My JIU experience:
My initial thoughts about returning to school after six years was that the process would be very intimidating. However, the professors and staff at JIU were always supportive and open to assisting throughout my journey. The online courses were extremely beneficial for my work schedule and home life. It allowed me to stay on top of my readings and assignments and to work at my own pace. In the end, I was able to complete my program with honors.
My gratitudes:
In pursuance of my degree, I have been fortunate to have had a tremendous amount of support from my family and friends. I would like to especially thank Annie Wedlowe and Eric Johnson for their unwaivering support.

When I first started the online format, I was not doing very well in the first class because of my own lack of discipline. Working with my advisor, helped me discover ways to make online learning more condusive to my learning style. Jones really made it more my style by organizing each class in a task based format.
My gratitudes:
My Wife Steffany, was probably the biggest influence on my success, she was a true hero in my book!!! Many nights at the library, Starbucks, home office, required that she put on the cape and take care of everything, from the kids, the house, and everything in between. Also want to thank my Managers Jen Hoelscher, and Rocco Benedetto, for the support and encourgement, that kept me going even when I felt I could not continue.

Best of luck to everyone with your future endeavors!!
My JIU experience:
JIU was an incredible experience! The staff really pushed the students to succeed by providing structure, insights, and challenges that will live in each of us forever. I will never forget those long nights of studying in order to participate in the rather interesting forum discussions and write those challenging papers. I will forever be proud to be a JIU alumni!!
My gratitudes:
I would have never made it through this challenge without my beautiful 2 year old by my side. My gratitudes:
I could not have finished this degree if not for the help of my family. My husband Andrew made sure that the laundry was done when I had a paper to finish and worked hard at helping me with the housework and with our business clients. My son, Andrew helped his father in the business and helped me by cooking some of the family meals. I lost my husband last year to cancer and now my son and I are continuing to operate the family business along with me seeking a job as an educator. I could not have come this far without them. Thanks to my husband and best friend and to my son.

My gratitudes:
Achieving this degree could not have been possible without the encouragement and motivation I received from my husband and girls. Often, my husband had to be both mom and dad because I had my studies to focus on. What amazes me is how much closer this journey has brought us together. In appreciation for having faith in me, I dedicate this degree to my love J. J., Amanda Leigh, Amber Jade, mom and last but not least dad because I know you're cheering on from heaven.

My most appreciative thanks go to my son, J.P. Griswold, who assisted me with many technology questions and supported me in my efforts to return to school at age 50!! In addition, I met and married a marvelous man with a most generous and kind heart during this degree committment of mine. My now husband, Colonel Dr. Peter Heinz, is to be thanked for his understanding and sincere support during this whole two year process. Finally, I thank my mother, Nancy V. Zelenack, who encouraged the original idea of my going back to school and finally obtaining this degree. Without the support and love of my entire family, this would not have happened!

Message to the class:
To my fellow graduates,
We did it! We are getting ready to embark on a new adventure with our degrees in hand. We are ready to show the world what we can do with our newfound knowledge and to impact society in a positive and significant way. It is just as important to take breath and savior each moment that comes our way and to stop and smell the roses. So, to my fellow graduates, I wish all of you good luck, success, and joy in everything that you pursue.
My JIU experience:
I have enjoyed my time at Jones International University. I have learned much from professors and fellow classmates during my online courses. I have grown professionally and personally through my experiences at JIU. I am very grateful that I had this opportunity to fulfill a life long dream of obtaining my Masters in Education and that I was able to do it with Jones International University.
My gratitudes:
I would like to thank my parents, Carol and Jim, who have given me the encouragement to pursue my dreams and wings to fly on my journey for a higher education. I would like to thank my brothers, James and Robert, for being my inspiration. They were constant reminders that I can do anything I set my heart on. Kathleen and Melissa, thank you for the moral encouragement and words of wisdom when things looked bleak and I wasn't sure of my way. To my nieces, Kyra, Elizabeth, Autumn, Alexandria, and Annalise, and my nephew, Caleb, thank you for reminding to stop and smell the roses, to appreciate life, and to make time for fun. Message to the class:
Dear class mates,
Many will wish you something to the effect of a good and peaceful life. I will do something better. I will wish you strength, and perseverance. Failure is not an option it is a necessity. You grow from it. You become stronger and more capable as a leader and performer of your duties. It is essential for your character to be humbled by your mistakes and to conquer your failures. It is not something to live in shame over but to rise from. You conquer today for all the tomorrows.
Blessings to you in Jesus Christ.
My JIU experience:
To be perfectly honest, traditional education was a necessity in my life that I approached kicking and screaming. It's done and I am grateful for having it but learning through life is more my thing. With that said, JIU made the whole kicking and screaming process significantly less painful that it probably should have been for me. Thanks Gals & Guys.
My gratitudes:
Mom, you rock. As a person, I admire you so much. As a mom, I could not have done this with out you!
Dad, you made me mad enough to conquer this just to prove I could and then you told me you knew all along I could... Kind of took the mad out of my sails... I don't get you but I love you.
Papa, forever and a day.
To the future, I love you enough to conquer today so you can have tomorrow.

Message to the class:
Best Wishes to all JIU Doctoral Graduates. We have worked extremely hard to attain the highest degree in education. I congratulate you all for having the fortitude to complete your course of study.
My JIU experience:
I enjoyed online learning because it allowed me to access and complete work when the time of day was right for me. The fact that we used skype, phone, and email made the experience meaningful because I could communicate with my classmates, mentor, and instructor on a one-to-one basis. Even though this was an online course of study, these communication tools also allowed us to build friendships over the years.
My gratitudes:
I especially want to thank Dr. Renee Myers for her guidance through the years to complete the doctorate degree. Throughout the course of study I had several family situations that took attention from my studies. But Dr. Myers always gave encouraging words and helped me search for solutions that would continue to let me stay on course. I wish God's continued blessings for her as she continues to influence future doctoral students.

Message to the class:
I would like to wish each of you much success in your endeavors. Each of us has jumped yet another hurdle in the race of life; however we must continue to run. Some of us will run longer distances than others and some of us will run a course with many obstacles; whatever the case we must run with the same drive and determination we used to get to this point. If you ever find yourself stuck and not moving forward, find a coach who can help move you toward fulfillment. If you desire to do so, give me a call, I’d love to help you with your forward movement.
My JIU experience:
I thoroughly enjoyed my learning experience at Jones International University. I wish that learning online had be available when I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree many years ago. As a professional trainer, I have added the option for my clients to experience online learning through the use of technology I discovered as a result of my studies with JIU.
My gratitudes:
I would like to take this time to thank God and my Husband for making it possible for me to obtain my Master's Degree. I would also like to thank my many sponsors who allowed me to intrude on their daily lives and businesses with my projects. Lastly I'd like to thanks my family and friends who were so very supportive of me while I spent countless hours studying and writing.

Message to the class:
Helping students achieve their goals, so they may enjoy their lives has always been my goal when I chose to become a teacher, and one day hopefully a Principal. I would only remind my classmates to see the big picture, and use the school/classroom as the last fair forum on the earth where we remind students that we are all made equal and are perfectly and wonderfully made by the Lord...whether we say it aloud or not, this remains the goal.
My JIU experience:
JIU was an excellent source of up to date research, which enabled me to immediately apply everything I had learned, and watch with my own eyes the practices and strategies succeed. Seeing the success unfold reveals how completely JIU prepared me for everything I face as a Principal.
My gratitudes:
Accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior on July 12th, 1997 was the greatest decision I have ever made, and without accepting Jesus dying on the cross, my life would not have led to this road...so to my Savior who died for me, and lifted me up through education...thanks. To my wife, also sent by the Lord, thanks for being a leader at home with our kids, you are the best teacher I know. And I should thank my mom, who provided me with opportunity and always believed I was smart enough.
|
Message to the class:
JIU students are the best! I truly appreciated the input of my classmates in our forum discussions. Your insights, comments and questions made learning online a "community" rather that a solitary experience. I wish every graduate a spectacular journey forward. You deserve it!
My JIU experience:
Learning online at JIU was a "Gold Star" experience for me. It gave me an opportunity to obtain a graduate degree that I could not otherwise achieve. I could meet the learning and writing challenges and still manage to run a business. In fact, the projects I completed could actually be implemented in our workplace, much to the benefit of our employees, our customers, and our overall success. Thanks, JIU!!
My gratitudes:
I want to thank my husband for his amazing patience, his understanding when I was too exhausted or too distracted to "pay attention" and for his pride in my accomplishment. I also want to thank my friend since childhood (number of years to remain secret) Maureen. You are so much more than a friend, Maureenie. You are my best listener, my astute advisor, my lifelong connection, my true soul-sister.
|
Message to the class:
I wish everyone many blessings and a brighter future. Congrats!!! Our efforts are paying back to us with rewards that will last forever.
My JIU experience:
I had a great experience at JIU. At the beginning I thought it was going to be really easy, but it was not like that. It was hard and challenging. I had to organize my schedules to be able to comply with all the requirements. I tried to quit many times too, but the professors were very kind and encouraged me to continue forward. I did, and now I am graduating. Thanks, JIU.
My gratitudes:
I want to thank my professor Dr. Craig. She is the best! She encouraged me with her comments and helped me to complete many projects and papers with accuracy and high quality work. Thanks, Dr. Craig.

My gratitudes:
Thanks to my wonderful husband for allowing me to take time from him and our busy schedule to pursue this degree. And to my beautiful daughter who helped me proof my materials on may occasions. Message to the class:
Class of 2012,
Over the course of pursuing our degrees together, I must say that it has been a pleasure to work with each of you here at JIU. I feel that I have taken much away from the courses and discussions that we have experienced together, and hope that you have taken away the same. As we move forward, some of us will pursue new professions, some will use our degrees to excel in our current profession, and some of us may even hold our degree for future promises. Regardless of which you may be using your degree for, I'd like to congratulate each and every one of you on your accomplishment; furthermore, best of luck in all of your future endeavors. As long as you continue to show the same commitment that you showed in pursuance of your degree, committing weekends and well-deserved off time to your professional goals, you will be successful in anything that you choose to pursue.
My JIU experience:
The very first thing that I learned in the online schooling format is that it takes commitment. The teachers, faculty, and counselors are great and will do everything within their power to help you, but in the end each individual is in control of his/her requirements. JIU made it much more feasible for me to be able to attend a school that would adapt to my busy lifestyle and work schedule, and I thank you for that. In the end, I had to rely on myself to ensure I completed work within the time requirements provided. By doing this, along with help from the school's professionals, my experience was very exciting and fulfilling. Thank you!
My gratitudes:
Accepting this degree would not be appropriate if I did not take the opportunity to thank the people who have put as much effort into achieiving it as myself. Mostly, I need to thank my wife for offering her patience, understanding, and unsurpassed support while in pursuance of my degree. For almost three years I devoted the majority of my off time and weekends to school work, in hopes to one day obtain a better job and be able to provide for my family at a higher level. With this in mind, she never complained, though she was left doing most of the household chores and taking care of our child. Thank you honey! Also, I'd like to thank my Mother, Father, Brother, and Sisters for the support that they also provided and continue to do so.

My JIU experience:
My experience at JIU far exceeded my expectations. More specifically the sense of freedom provided through online classes, allowed me to concentrate more heavily on course theories when time permitted and helped mentally blur the "idea of fast approaching deadlines", thus eliminating stress.
My gratitudes:
Without God and the support of my family and friends, I would not be where I am today. Each person closest to me, have played a huge role in guiding me through this chapter of my life. Thank you!

Message to the class:
We have finally removed the barriers to the many hurdles in life by completing our degree! We all experienced sleepless nights, fatigue and even disappointment while completing our degree; even with thoughts of giving up but those were only thoughts because it would be inconceivable to give up on your education something I would possess for a life time. We acquired true satisfaction from new knowledge and becoming someone greater than a student . . . an individual who can manage and analyze any project or dilemma. We did our best to get as much from my education as we could. This was our victory over the challenges we faced on the way.
Much depends on great desire, enthusiasm and striving for academic success to contribute to this achievement. I am overjoyed; therefore, I will celebrate my success of completing an MBA with the satisfaction of obtaining material evidence of my educational experience gained as I prepare for new challenges as I venture through life.
My JIU experience:
Online learning offers the convenience of learning. Without online educational institutions, I would have never obtained my MBA because I work full-time and have children/family in the evenings. In obtaining an education online, you need to be disciplined, motivated and focused because there is no one to say this assignment is due in two days. It also provided the ability to work at your own pace and scheduled to meet your deadlines something that is much needed in the workforce. For anyone new to online education, I would suggest to review the syllabus and plan a schedule so that you meet your assignment due dates. I have read many negative articles regarding online education, which concerned me, but still felt that JIU is the best choice for me and provided a great experience and hope that all alumni find someway to stay in touch.
My gratitudes:
Many thanks to my family for their support; my mother who passed away many years ago but her voice was always heard to acquire my education and the staff and faculty and JIU who were there for me. Now, I will take my next venture to prepare and pass the CPA examination.

Message to the class:
Congratulations to everyone in this graduating class. I hope everyone looks to the future in a positive way. Life has its ups and downs, but it is important to see the world on the up... as a glass half full. The downs of life give us the frame of reference, so we know what is bad and good. It has been a tough year, and I will appreciate all the good years in reference to this year. Good things are always on the horizon, starting with this graduation!
My JIU experience:
Online learning is a wave for the future. I am and have been both a student and an instructor on this wave. We all learn in our own way, some need more and some need less. Some need a set pace and others need less pace. Some need time, others need breaks. Education should be more personable and relevant. When I was in high school, this wasn't so. I have worked to make this so, both for myself and my students.
My gratitudes:
I want to thank many people. This includes all my family, friends, co-workers, instructors, and fellow students. My education has always been a truly collaborative experience.
I also want to single out my mother in law and father in law. Recently, my father in law passed away, but he got to see me finish.
I especially want to thank my mom and dad, who are not here. I am thankful that my mom saw me finish though, especially with an outstanding GPA and a sense of purpose.
I also want to thank my wife. Without her support, I don't know where I would be.
Last, I dedicate all my effort to my daughter and my son, soon to be born. They keep me motivated and striving for excellence.

Lifelong learning is the key to a fulfilling life; success cannot thrive without continuing the journey for knowledge! Don't stop here, there's so much world to know! Let the world know that "You are Here!"
My JIU experience:
JIU, without you I would not have been able to clear my provisional teaching license here in the state of North Carolina. Thanks so much to the wonderful professors (Dr. Craig, Dr. Orth, you ladies rock!) and academic support (Kim Sassali, thanks for staying on top of my account!) that you provided to help me make it to graduation! Because of JIU, I have received high marks on this school year's summative evaluation! Going from Proficient to Accomplished in only 2 school years is a blessing and I contribute much of my advancement to my education from JIU!
My gratitudes:
Without my parents instilling the importance of determination and success, I don't know if I would have made it this far. I also credit my perseverance to my two younger siblings, Sheri (21) and Terrell (13); it is my goal to make sure they have a great role model and have no excuse for not reaching their maximum potential. I hope I made them proud. And to my 4 year old daughter Nia, Mommy wants you to know that "impossible" is merely a word meant to create motivation. Please remember that nothing is impossible and the success you aspire to build is only as strong as the foundation you started with. Mommy will ALWAYS be your foundation!

My JIU experience:
I enjoyed my experience tremendously after a rather scary start. I never thought on-line education was useful because I would not have face-to-face contact with my classmates. I was totally wrong! I enjoyed the fellowship I developed in every class and the professors were wonderful. Going to school with people from around the world was truly an exciting experience that I would recommend to anyone.
My gratitudes:
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to those that supported me through thick and thin and encouraged me when I thought a MBA just wasn't for me. Thank you Sherry, Gayle, and MarySue for your support when others were telling me I was too old. Speaking of meeting people in class, a special thank you to Rick. Without your constant support, not to mention competition I would have never made it. I will cherish your friendship forever.

Message to the class:
One of the things I like best about JIU is that my fellow classmates come from all walks of life with life experiences and stories that have challenged me to think outside of myself both academically and personally. Many thanks to all of the graduates for enriching my experience and for having the courage to keep moving forward.
My JIU experience:
Before JIU, I had never taken an online class. In fact, I didn't put a lot of stock into the idea of online leaning simply because of the lack of a classroom. When I began looking into graduate schools for myself, those that offered online learning were not at the top of my list. After having completed my degree with JIU, though, I have become a believer. My experience at JIU was perfect for me as a young, working professional. What I learned in the virtual classroom complemented my day to day work, and now my degree has enabled me to push even further by applying for positions that were formally out of reach. My future is brighter because of the lessons learned and the degree earned from JIU.
My gratitudes:
I would like to thank my parents for their greatest gift–the ambition to keep moving forward. No two individuals have given me more motivation to go even further than I think I can. Second, my Whitney–for the two years of my M.Ed. program, she was the voice telling me to keep going, the one who put up with my late night and weekend homework sessions, the one who had the patience to put up with my frustrations, the one with whom I could share my accomplishments. Finally, I'd like to thank every teacher that I've ever had at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Staten Island, Staten Island Technical High School, and The University of Scranton for encouraging my curiosity and believing in my abilities. Without these people, I would not be the man I am today.

Congratulations to all of my cohorts! We have DEFINITELY earned it!
My JIU experience:
Over the course of these 3 1/2 years I have made new friends that I will cherish for a lifetime. I enjoyed the convienience of turning in my work into a workspace instead of driving to a campus and spending gas going to a physical campus. The professors were always helpful and understanding and worked with me in each class. I enjoyed working with my cohorts and I still keep in contact with most of them.
My gratitudes:
I would like to thank most of all my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through Him I can do all things. I would also like to thank my husband of over 15 years, Oscar O. Thompson who supported me through the this entire process and told me that I could do anything if I set my mind to it. Baby, you are the best, and I count myself a blessed woman to walk through this life with you by my side. To my parents, Artis and Dorothy Lewis, who was with me through middle school high school, summer school, and undergradute school. You always believed in me through every C, D, and E! You are living proof that Prayer changes things. Thank you for believing. My principal, Dr. Janice Hatcher, thank you for your support of me and your understanding. Your support and help were vital aids in my success. Finally, to my friend of twenty years Katrina Goodwin. Thank you for many days of proof reading and all around support, I say this with love, it's your time now!

Message to the class:
We have all have heard the phrase, “Life is short” but so is a rollercoaster ride. Therefore, I would like to encourage each of you to acknowledge your achievements, recognize your pending challenges but continue to walk through life as if you are at the amusement park of ‘life’. If you do so, you must understand that you may not be able to ride all the rides nor buy all of the goodies, but you should always remember that you are in your own AMUSEMENT park and the fun should only end when “your” park closes. I congratulate you all on your accomplishments and offer best wishes for your future successes.
My JIU experience:
As with many of my classmates and the alumni, prior to beginning my studies at JIU, I was truly apprehensive and even intimidated about pursing my degree within a completely on-line environment. I wondered if I would be entering into a world of academia, where I would be enrolling into an educational paradigm, founded on the memorization and regurgitation of ‘facts and figures’. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the professors at JIU encouraged me not to be tethered to academic conventionality but to ‘think outside of the box’.
Online learning is definitely not, nor should it be perceived to be a “one-size fits all” academic format. The fact remains, while the numbers appear to be dwindling, we still live in a society full of individuals, whose academic snobbery has many of them, placing the value of wearing a Rolex over that of learning to ‘tell time’.
Personally, I have found the coursework to be innovative, comprehensive and academically challenging. As with any online courses/programs, the student is most responsible for their academic success and since the program was entirely online, my personal responsibility was paramount. Additionally, self-discipline, dedication and motivation were crucial in keeping up with reading assignments, conducting research, participation and most importantly, the acquisition of knowledge.
That being said, whenever I’m asked about my experiences and thoughts of JIU, I have responded: if you are looking for a solid, well-priced, challenging and convenient program, I’d look into JIU and the programs it offers.
My gratitudes:
One of my life’s missions is to fulfill a challenge often issued by the former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz. Throughout his coaching career, Coach Holtz challenged his players, and I have likewise challenged myself, to ‘GET EVEN …with everyone /anyone who has ever helped you in life’. I have committed myself to fulfilling this challenge because none of us has or ever will reach the pinnacle of success and/or happiness without the help of others. Consequently, much like other accomplishments I have enjoyed during my lifetime, obtaining my degree is but another achievement that was built on a foundation of the love, patience, support and belief.
This achievement further serves as a testament to the genuinely infectious and positive attitudes possessed by those who encouraged and supported me over these past months. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation of my colleagues and friends for their patience and support. I especially want to acknowledge and thank my family for their love and support... I sincerely hope that they understand just how much I appreciate them and to let them know that they were tremendously inspirational.
A special thank-you to my wife, Debbie, you have always been the concrete in the foundation of all of ‘our’ successes!

Message to the class:
Congratulations to everyone on this important accomplishment. It is with great pride that I call you my peers and will forever consider all of you one of my classmates. Good luck with all of your endeavors in the future.
My JIU experience:
I was very happy with my JIU online learning experience, so much that I have decided to return next year to pursue my Doctorate in Adult Education Leadership. I'm my opinion, the quality of JIU's online learning platform and their overall educational excellence stands a head and shoulders above all other online Universities
My gratitudes:
I want to thank my wife, Jessica, for her unyielding support. Without it I could never have applied the focus to this challenging goal. I also need to thank my study buddy, Bailey, our black lab. As she lay on the floor next to my desk day and night as I worked on homework, she always knew when it was time for a break to clear my head. I also want to thank the rest of my family for believing I could achieve this goal. All of your support is greatly appreciated.

I would just like to say to my graduating class that I wish you good luck and success in all your future endeavors. Making it through the doctoral program, strongly says that you have the will and potential to make it through any challenge that life may and will place in your life. Congratulations!
My JIU experience:
I love the online learing experience JIU provided. The online program made it possible for me to continue to be a parent who needed to be home with her children, but still meet success and complete the doctoral program. The set up of the classes in general was very easy to maneuver through without frustration.
My gratitudes:
I would like to think my mom for supporting me through the program from beginning to end and the awesome professors on my committee, Dr. Mageehon, Dr. Gonzalez y Gonzalez, and Dr. Caine for reading my dissertation countless times to ensure it was quality work. I would also like to thank my children Tervon and Tyra for being patient with mom while giving time and dedication for 3 yers to the Doctoral program.

Message to the class:
I do not know how to say good bye to those with whom I have shared and grown so much. So I am very grateful that there are many with whom I will continue collaborating. Drs Elizabeth Johnson and Susan Brenner-Camp, we have worked together on many projects and I feel confident that we will share so many more. It is hard to imagine feeling so close to persons I have never met face to face; but our thoughts have been synthesized into cohesive understandings that filtered into projects that prepared each of us fir this point in our careers. As a cohort, we have worked with many who are no longer sharing this moment with us; but that just shows how intense and tenacious, diligent and patient each member of this collective is or has become. Along the way many of us have lost family but we have gained a kindred knowledge that we are whole as part of an extended kindred community. It is my hope that we all find and keep comforted in this knowing.
My JIU experience:
When I completed my first JIU degree in 2006, it was disappointing that JIU offered neither the EdS nor EdD option to continue my studies. So I started at another online university only to find there was minimal contact from the instructors and the cohort experience was absent. I was alone in the asynchronous world, only submitting work and waiting for a rating and approval to move to the next task. Once JIU opened its 'doors' with the EdS and EdD programs, I sought to transfer as quickly as possible. While it did take more time and it took some time and many policy changes as JIU determined how to handle the financial and course aspects of transfer students, it was all worth the stress to know the the end result of all these efforts is fair beyond a degree recognizing I Know how to work- but one that represents all of the collaboration, research and peer review/ analyses of why we believe what do and how it is done. Through all of the challenges the professors and staff were always ready to help me clarify my questions and support in finding the answers. It is nice to know that what this cohort has achieved has been earned; unlike so many other programs out there.
My gratitudes:
I would like to thank my husband, our six children and granddaughter for supporting me throughout the process- letting me spend necessary time occasionally on academic efforts and recognizing that I sometimes needed them to come out and play with me just to keep all things in perspective. I would also like to thank each of the JIU professors who encouraged me throughout the journey- Dr Pancer who convinced my movement from the EdS to the EdD program, Dr Steiner who felt my skills would serve me well in taking on the challenge of the Delphi process and Dr E. Alana James for mentoring me through those final critical courses as well as Drs Maria del Rosario-Sanchez Patino & Jeremy Mitchell for rounding off my committee and guiding me to completing a final document that I can look back on with great pride.

Message to the class:
Good luck in you future endeavors. Strive for excellence in all that you do.
My JIU experience:
Learning online has been difficult and rewarding. It was difficult at times because attending an online school requires much more personal desire and dedication in order to achieve greatness. It was more rewarding for me because in order for me to succeed and accomplish my goals I had to work harder than if I was attending a brick and mortar school.
My gratitudes:
I would like to thank my wife for her support and understanding. I know how difficult it has been for her with the addition of our new son and the demands that it took for me in order to pursue personal goals of high academic achievement.

To the class of 2012, thank you very much for all of the discussions, advice, dialogue and good times that flowed between us in these few years of studies. These have been special times and I am very grateful for all that has transpired as I completed this degree. You will always be remembered in the years to come.
My JIU experience:
My experience at JIU was wonderful. The online environment was the perfect method for me to complete my masters degree. I enjoyed communicating with my classmates through having meaningful discussion related to education.
My gratitudes:
I am thankful to my God my Father and his Son Jesus Christ for giving me the courage and faith to undertake this endeavor in the middle stages of my life. I want to sincerely thank my wife who picked up all of the slack while I took the time to study outside of my employment. I want to thank my Principal Dr. Scott O'Prey who allowed me the necessary time to fulfill the parts of my degree that required his participation in the school environment. All of the teachers in my current school and in surrounding schools that allowed me to do observations and interviews that were necessary for my studies. Thank you to my professors at JIU. Especially the ones who were demanding in terms of their work requirements. It truly has taken a village to get me to this place in my life and all of the above were extremely instrumental in making it happen.
